Instead of looking at TE37s and LMs
I also need to not look at coilovers because I still want to go camping and be able to drive over speed bumps.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
And yet, here I am. Looking at coilovers and wheels. Sigh.

Yeah but there’s not as much travel as you would think. I can’t even get close to oem ride height.

That's why I bought my Mazda 6 instead of a WRX. Even my brother knows if I had gotten the Subie I would be modifying it asap. So far nothing on the Mazda but tints. Once the warranty runs out though... Might lower the car a bit??

Disregard wheels, acquire skid plate

Don’t listen to them. They way to be unique among Subaru owners IS to keep it stock. Someday ypu’ll go to sell this, and when you put “stock, never modified” in the ad, people will be pounding on your door to throw money at you.

I never understood why coils usually START at -1.0" or more. They should start at stock height, and bottom out at -2.0" or so. IMHO. Because I want stiffness, but physically lowering the car only has a modest effect in street driving — a little more clearance would save a lot of oil pans, FMICs, suspension arms, and other low-hanging bits. btw, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Legacy.

I love my stock/tired LGT height, just enough gap to get me over things, but small enough at the time to look good. Still looking for wheels though.

Before you buy anything, go spend that mod money on camping.

Oh I wouldn’t have expected that, well that’s cool that it can still go camping

That is a very good point to think about. I do wonder if the automatic will deter people as much as the stock-ness would draw them, though

There should be an option for that, but I can totally see the demand and customer feedback making them start with some lowering at least.
Thanks! I’m rather fond of it as well

I’ll probably look for summer wheels after the stock ones get new tires this winter

Absolutely...cosmetic improvements will always sell more suspensions. I once proposed (especially for all of us AWD wagon owners) a coil setup that allows for +1" and -1" options. Actually lifting a car is a tough undertaking, but most suspension travel would allow for some lift just as easily as it would for lowering.

That would also be cool, since our only other option I know of for mild lifting would be using Outback suspension

Exactly what I need to do, a girl owned the car before me and she DID NOT take care of the stock wheels.

Same with my Passat — I can throw on an A6 suspension for an extra half inch, plus a new wheel/tire combo for another inch (and a screwed up speedo/odo). But I rarely go beyond gravel roads, so it would be more for fun.

This advice is so hard to follow. My LGT is still bone stock.

The stockness will be more important than the automatic will be a liability. Put it this way, stock is more desirable than modified. Manual is more desirable than automatic. The least desirable of them all would be a modified automatic.

It may be hard to follow, but the right thing is often the difficult thing :)

At the very least I’ll keep it stock until I decide its staying in the family till it dies, which is likely. What I should do is spend modification money on winter tires and camping. Or get a project car/truck

Yeah, the legacys current ride height is enough for most things, and I’d rather get an actual 4x4 as well before I sacrifice handling and fuel economy

Mine are still in good shape, but that's what happens when it spends 10 years never having to parallel park

They’re among some of the most beautiful wheels around aren’t they? I love mag blue and hyper red. If I could, I’d have a set of each to swap between when the mood strikes.
